Lindau is situated in southern Germany on the Lake of Constance in the Federal State of Bavaria. The historic old town is located on a small island (0,68 km²) in the Lake of Constance, there are two connections to the main land, one railroad and one bridge for cars and foot-passangers.

Was part of the French occupation zone after World War II and was handed over back to Bavaria in 1955, and is Bavaria's small corridor to the lake.

At the eastern exit of the city along the Federal trunk road  12 in the town-quarter Zech, we get to the German-Austrian border at the Leiblach river.

There is another border crossing a few miles to the north along the motorway  96  (D) /  A 14  (A)

Hörbranz is a small village in the Austrian Federal State of Vorarlberg, in the Bregenz county, 4km north-west of Bregenz, south of Lake Constance, directly on the border to Germany. The Austrian Federal road  190  has its starting point here and leads to Bregenz after 2.5 miles.

Lindau main station on the island surprises us with having not only ticket vending machines of the German State Railways (DB), but also a machine of the Austrian ÖBB on the left.

Vorarlberg Feldkirch (A):

Same Austrian Trunk road, but 38km farther down towards the border of Liechtenstein near Austrian Feldkirch. There are towns in three different countries displayed.
